3 Man Bowmaker

8th  June 2018

On a misty morning when some of the early starters decided after 4 holes that enough was enough because visibility was so poor, the day turned out to be quite pleasant, albeit damp. Of the nine teams who rolled up, seven completed their rounds though they didn’t start until well after 10 o’clock, when the course was re-opened.

The format with all three to score on the first 6 holes, proved to be very even amongst the teams who placed in the top four. What ultimately decided the winners was an excellent 30 points scored on holes 7-12 when only two scores were needed.

There were three birdies, each paying £4.50 per team.

Match Report vs Cannington Away 07/06/2018

We travelled to Cannington today to play on a 9 hole course were you play the
holes twice but of different tees, the course is very open and flat with a SSS of 70, not sure how they will get on at CST when we entertain them in August with some of our tight fairways & plenty of trees.

The food was excellent with a bacon bap & coffee upon arrival followed by a half a chicken dinner all for 12 pounds, oh those were the days at CST.

As most of you know we had a situation where we had to put two sides out with the other team being at Weymouth in the Knighton Heath Knockout Rd2,
so I had to find 24 players which initially caused a bit of a panic as sometimes I struggle to find 12, so I have to say a big thankyou to you all for helping out and I hope you enjoyed the day although I’m not sure about the team at Weymouth who came up against a very strong side, I think after we beat them at home last week they were out for revenge by putting out their A team.

Barrie Heath/ Dave Goddard            Halved
John Macomish/ Nick Clarke             Lost 5&3
Ian Househam/ Ian Fielder                Won 2&1
Alan Chance/ Barry Singleton            Halved
John Pearce/ Anndy Beale                 Won 7&5
Mark Cording/ Paul England              Lost 3&2
Peter Spencer-Farr/ Mick Aldridge   Won 6&5

Match Result           Won 4-3

Knighton Heath Challenge

Ten Seniors from CST travelled to Weymouth G C to play in the second round of the Knighton Heath Callenge.

Roger Davis got to within 6 miles of the golf club when his old workhorse Land Rover decided to give up the ghost on a roundabout which in turn caued a nice traffic jam. He made it in time to play going out last having been rescued by breakdown services. Thank you Roger for making all the effort,( new car to be acquired !!!!)

Result of Match:

Rod Stevens Lost 6 and 5            Chris Gingell Won 5 and 3
