Wednesday 26th August
On what turned out to be a nice sunny day after a dodgy start which may just have affected the early birds. Fantastic discipline as the Earlies were all clear by 08:20 and the 2nd draw was done by Nick at 08:30- so we were all underway before 09:00 and well clear of the Somerset & Devon Juniors. The first group of earlies just met them on the 16th around 11:45 but let them through as Gentlemen and everyone was happy.
Course in lovely condition with quite a few Tees marked out for modification. Couple of dream teams out today who were well fancied, like Bob the Builder and Farmer Bob . It was a poor decision by Mr White that decided the eventual winners however. John Chance was initially in a 2-ball and strode to the tee to go ahead of them..but was swiftly rejected and send to the back. Here they met Bert and Richard, whom they teamed up with and shot a blistering 60.5 to win it by a mile. Get Mr Chance mad at your peril !!!
Since I published this, I had a call from JC who asked to be able to print an apology for what went on at the 1st Tee- he said that he loves playing with the Seniors and does not want to fall out with anyone, which is a great example to us all.
Des Denning and I found ourselves at the back of the field and on our own for the Texas scramble. Other members suggested that we should therefore ask the rest of the field if we could go ahead. When we went to the tee and I asked, Bob responded in a light-hearted way, but as I had been up since the early hours, I responded in a liverish sort of way.
P.S. Thank you
Des for being a fantastic partner, and as ever Richard and Bert could not have
been better company.

Hi
all,
I've just read
the blog and I feel very guilty, and so I would like to publicly apologise to
Bob White.

It was a mean
thing to do, and so Bob, please except my apologies, and can I buy you a
pint?
John Chance

Medal advertised on blog yesterday is confirmed for Friday 4th September & apologies for any confusion, well spotted Roger.
Our finest players were down in Weymouth yesterday for the Whisky Scramble, but never hit a ball is it was rained off.
Keep checking the draw for our Seniors Open as changes keep creeping in. Colin Ireland and Mike King have now withdrawn, so there are gaps opening up everywhere..but please make all changes directly with the Pro Shop.
Thanks to Farmer Bob for doing all the calculations.
Winners Cut 2 Shots and 2nd 1 shot as per normal.
