3 Man Stableford – all to count

Played in almost balmy conditions, most members scored well today. I was unable to examine the cards of the winning teams as the Handicap Secretary whisked the cards away. In case you may be worried about your own handicap, I think it may be that Frank wanted to frame his own card. However, Frank’s team were beaten into third place by the MacOmish/ Willerton/ Griffiths team who were consistent throughout. They were only pushed into second place by the Dowell/Wallis/ Spencer-Farr team, helped along by Danny’s 5 birdies.

There were 17 birdies each paying £1.20 per team.

Bridport Golf Club are having to make some tough decisions, as reported in local paper.

WITHOUT financial belt-tightening Bridport Golf Club cannot remain viable.
That’s what members have been told – but directors have moved to reassure members and the community that despite ‘ongoing economic pressures’ its future is ‘pretty positive’.
The belt-tightening involves cutting administrative costs by making the secretary redundant and terminating the club professional’s contract.
Letters to members from directors said: “Due to on-going economic pressures, the club has realised that it has to reduce its costs significantly in order to remain a viable operation.

Brian Hodder had a successful prostate removal on Monday and I think is back home earlier than expected. Stuart Pope had his op yesterday, but I think Norman's description of a 'Voice-Box' reduction was a bit unfair.
Keith Branchmanager phoned up with the sad  news that Fran had lost her Mother overnight, but at 102 what a great life she must have had.

Talk about unfair, I walked into so many 'ticking-off' situations today I almost felt like giving up reporting..if it wasn't so much fun.
Bryan Frost approached me looking very sad as I had listed him for 'Ted's Night'  as "Mr Nobby Hodder & Mrs Brenda Frost" - and he said Brenda was his Wife's name and it gave him an eiree feeling to see it in print, so had to apologies.

Next was Gordon Hughes ( becoming my best customer after Nobby) who went on and on about Domestic and Club and a reduction on his handicap that had ended and how I robbed him on 15th when he should have got 2 shots as he was back on 22...( I have translated what he said back into English)...
so I showed him his card that his handicap as 21....
..but he only hesitated for a milli-second and said 'weeeel it wisnah me that rote that '

and then I was straight into Bim's Gun Sight for not publishing the Nobby Story. Apparently he went into Pro Shop to borrow a brolley to put the buggies away...when asked " What's wrong with the new one you won in the Open " ?- he just remarked that he didn't want to get it wet !
Got a few more for the Winter League again, Hall & Denman and Brian Marsh seeking a partner.

4 More for Ted's Night on 26th Oct, now up at 57 I think.
Geoff & Janice Dean, with Chris & Rita Denman.

Carrying on as I await Captain's Report...

Waiting on first we watched in merriment as tight tee position caught out some of our finest...

..and we had a nature moment as a Robin came and joined us...

and Phil out with his new mates...

until now..I felt the early birds lacked class....

and even more as 18th Tee continues to grow with more paths being beautifully constructed by the Team.
Leave 17th, head to 18th with nice little buggy turning circle and then back along path again for 50 yards as it heads up 18th.
