CYDER CUP – Round 3
7th October
2016
After two tense and classic
battles after rounds 1 and 2, when scores were level at 12 points each, it all
came down to the singles. Pairings were carefully matched so that it would come
down to the wire.
Scores were neck and neck,
When the final parings came in, the excitement was palpable. JP called out for
the last two results. Two wins for the captain. “You’ve walked it”, he said. By
the time the Captain had changed his shoes, and gone upstairs, two results had
been reversed. Two results had been wrongly accredited to the Captain. “How can
this be?” cried the Captain. “Well they’re Seniors” came the reply. “they don’t
know who they’re playing for”.
So once again in keeping with
tradition, the Vice Captain’s triumph in the Cyder Cup.
Congratulations go to Bryan
Frost and Geoff Dean who were the only players to score 3 points during the
week.
Plenty of drama all week, such as Ian Griffiths levelling against George by pitching in from 150 yards on 17th for an Eagle 2 - which shows how this special 'Matchplay' week keeps its attraction for the section.
Even better was the mixing of early & late as we saw many times over the week; 'Who's David Walgrove ?' I heard ; Stuart met Gordon Hughes for the first time; Ian & Geoff; Martin & Andy - got to be good for our now huge section. I think Ian Griffiths and George Wallace have agreed to pair up for the Winter League..so there's a pair to strike fear into the Comp...list will be up next week so get calling your partner...

OK, we know you are all very busy, with lots going on but here's one we'd love you to support especially if you cannot attend the Seniors Captain Dinner a week later.
I've booked a Seniors Table of 10 with the Pro Shop and already have an indication of desire from:-
John & Diana Pearce
Nobby Hodder
Pete & Jan (Quadruple-barrelled)
Danny & Ruth Dowell
Nick Hill
..now added
Alan & Carol Keenan
we'd love you to join us if you can to show Steve & Jacqui how we appreciate all they do for us.
Full posters about the do are up at the Club..and there may even be a few extra bottles of wine on the table to get us off to a good start.....let me know on 221899 of via Email or get them to add you to our table on Pro-Shop list.
