4 Man Medalford 23rd  September 2016

In almost perfect conditions 32 members played a Medalford. Apologies for a slight confusion. The advertised format was for a 2 man medalford but this was modified to the 4 man format which we generally play.

It was amazingly busy up there today as the now 14 Buggies were in full use. Firstly the Prince of Wales Golf Society from Ham Hill were hot on our tail with a 10:00 Tee-Time and then later on Nobby was out there placing NTP for the Dainton Park gay bikers club . It is a credit to the amazing club we now have that all of these people can be accommodated with Buggies, Locker Rooms, catering, car parking, full-time marshals etc

There was little doubt about the winners who had the best Stableford score and were 1 shot off the best Medal score which was achieved by the runners-up.

There were 13 birdies paying 90p per birdie per team.

Meantime Richard Hall has booked Club for the Fish& Chip / Curry Night for Wednesday26th October - the list will be up later, but give him a bell on 62948 if you want to be included in this latest 'Ted's Night'..with your Ladies of course.

Bit more casual than the Captain's formal Dinner which is on November 4th and of course is the social highlight of the year..with places expected to fill very quickly given our ever increasing membership....

Oh Dear..I see what the Captain's been up to....helping Nobby raise another £370 for Charity...

Jackie singing 'First cut is the deepest'....

..then he becomes Jackie Charlton with the 'Comb-over'....

and finally that famous Bond Villain

but they are not finished yet as Simon joins the fun...his Family will not be impressed...
I call it the 'Tasmanian Devil-cut '

We collected over £250.00 today and there are a number of Seniors yet to contribute and we expect a further £120.00. The money will be shared equally between the Captain's Charity, Alzheimer's Research UK, and Nobby's Charity, Diabetes. And for good luck, Simon weighed in and had his head shaved. He has yet to frighten his children.

and just in from Google, who had apparently been tracking Geoff Dean on the 15th Hole...

..

Geoff, in his defence said that a 7 on the 690 Yard 15th was not to be scoffed at...

But to be fair, he did claim a few distractions.....

Still reading..there's more...One Group, led by a certain kilt-wearing direct descendant of Robbie The Bruce, was keen yesterday to point out that he had been robbed of his just dues by not getting all his birdie money.. so as usual we dug out all the cards to check ( and there's an awful lot of them these days)...and here is that card...just look at for a few seconds and count the Birdies....

..so we paid out for the 2 claimed on the card...but I'm sure if you have really studied it you will have found the Third one.
This week alone, we have had over 60 cards submitted for checking in the Monday /Wed / Friday Roll. Up. As you drive home after your 4 or 5 hours up there playing golf, you may have noticed a small group up there for another couple of hours, sorting out the results for you.
Sometimes they seek a little help and one of those little rules we have to help them is that you
MUST RING YOUR BIRDIES
or they may well not be spotted & then you and your team will miss out.

Even the RSPB have a strict policy on this.
The Watchtree Bird Ringing Group is led by Frank Mawby. The group capture, record and release birds throughout the year in order to monitor populations and aid research. This helps organisations like the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) to record the survival rates of birds and to track their movements. Expanding our knowledge of birds in this manner allows us to better understand why populations of birds are declining and to develop conservation plans.

Lovely setting of the 9th Green
