Canadian Greensomes  – 5th September 2016

Today we welcomed a new member to the Seniors, Ian Griffiths. I understand that Ian previously played at Taunton and Pickeridge who we will be playing in an interclub friendly later this month. Ian was also part of a Royal Navy Team that played with Roger Stone a decade or two ago....

Conditions today were very different from the last week. The air was very muggy and the run on the ball which we have come to expect wasn’t there. Nevertheless, a few teams managed some very respectable scores, most notably todays’ winners Martin Putland and Sid Crisp who had the best gross score of the day, including a Birdie 3 on the 10th.
Even the fancied teams with lower handicaps could not match this score.

There were 13 birdies each worth £1.50 per team.

Whilst we still have domestic handicaps, which I understand will be abolished with the start of the next captaincy, the winners will be cut 2 shots and the runners up 1 shot.
