Nearly a hole in 1 from Maurice as his Tee-Shot brushed past the pin and saved him a big bar bill.
Deano the Builder is back at work preparing for the Balcony Steel Work which he hopes (weather permitting) to install this week. Holes for beams in brickwork and support concrete already in place. Balcony will be handy for Johny Bloys to hand up his money for Roll-Up so he never has to enter the building.
Farmer Bob was back in control and with good news about his last visit to his Doctor which was basically 'See you in a Year' - well done Bob & your support Team ( Margaret).
Liam requested we try and push Pro's Day a bit more for this Saturday. I can count 18 Seniors already participating, but plenty of room for more and although it's Team's of 4, there are plenty of gaps to be filled call him on 30231 and he'll gladly fit you in.
Norman posted the start Times for Wednesday Jubilee Scramble, but it just triggered another Scramble from people who didn't have their name down and others that could no longer fill their slots, such as Bert (Injured), John Bloys ( Medical Appoint) and other that wanted to be added Gordon Hughes, Phil Dewar, Lyndsey, Martin Leigh etc it was decided to leave with Liam to juggle as he now has list and there are slots at 08:02 and 10:26, 10:34, 10:42 that can be used..and no doubt other cancellations on the day.
Alan & Carol Keenan were up there Midday, waiting to play a KO against Pete Spencer-Farr and Jan Warner-Booth but the persistent rain was worsening and I would be amazed if the game took place....with such long names, you wouldn't want to keep re-writing soggy score cards would you !
JKP & Mike Hone had a good battle against Maurice Arnold and Alan Davis, Mike & John were cruising near half-way 3-up when the 8th caught everyone out, as wedges from 140 yards went through the green, the front edge was rock solid - and they fought back to go ahead by 15th in the rain. JKP needed to win 18th to get a half but had tricky shot to green from under a Laurel...
and brollies were up..
Our Match was interesting right from start. I played nice shot on 2nd and it looked even better as we approached green and appeared about 4 feet from pin...that was until Billy Hilson appeared from 3rd Tee and claimed that ball, mine had gone through back. 3rd was equally actioned packed as we approached drives and Maurice walked up to a ball and proclaimed "That's Yours John" - which I duly played..but it wasn't mine, it was Mike's. So I'm out of the hole , but according to rules my Partner incurs no penalty.
.If a player incurs the loss of hole penalty under Rule 15-3a for making a stroke at a wrong ball, he is disqualified for that hole, but his partner incurs no penalty even if the wrong ball belongs to him. If the wrong ball belongs to another player, its owner must place a ball on the spot from which the wrong ball was first played.
..and on 4th more fun as I had a great par 5 to win the hole...but my 2nd was up a tree and forced a penalty drop...but still made 5 much to annoyance of Alan !
If you enjoyed the format, why not put you name down for a few matches as it is totally different to our normal game and much more Gentlemanly....sometimes.
I'm please that Captain played it as an A versus B Competition as there is no better feeling than getting hammered in your own game and finding out that everyone else in your Team has Won...but sometimes you have to accept the complete Opposite.
..and you are still reading, you deserve a bit of a reward....which shows the importance of playing the correct ball...
