Jubilee Silver Salver 3rd August 2016

We welcomed two new members to the Seniors today, Mark Cording and Stewart Seery who were joined by “golden boy” William Hilson. This title will become apparent later in the report.

There was some terrific scoring most notably by the sixth placed team of Danny Dowell, Rod Stevens and Alan Keenan who scored a gross 64, no score higher a four in spite of some very persistent barracking by Lindsey. In contrast, our birdie specialist was in a team with Alan Chance and Bob White and they managed the day’s highest single hole score on the first with an 8 (yes folks eight)- which used up 50% of their allowance !

But the day belonged to our newcomers. Billy no mates hadn’t got a team and partnered with Mark and Stewart who proceeded to win by a margin of two clear shots. Very many congratulations. The Silver Salver will be presented at the AGM.

First of all apologies for loss of Brean Match. It's been on the Card as an away match all year, but when Nick contacted them they said, no, it's at your place. It's one of those we switch every Year Home & Away. So Nick rushed around and got tee Times & Food arranged..when Brean came back again to say it's not Thursday, It's Friday..which is of course Challenge Cup Day & Brean were unable to get a team for Thursday, but Capt / Vice are trying to get it for September if they can get a team here - all JKP Fault I'm afraid, so apologies - but anyone wishing to take over the Annual Card is most welcome....

Funny Day today with bevvy of new members. Farmer Bob was walking up 17th towards my drive again as I was just behind ringing my 2 on 16th, when he saw a guy chip in on 4th from 80 yards.
Minutes later, this same guy watched Bob play from woods on 18th to bend a beautiful ball towards the green..and said hello. It was yet another New Senior that has joined from Honiton. Ex Asst Pro from Axe-Cliff and Manager of the Otter Golf Centre on A30 - Andrew Chambers..another 4 Handicapper...

At 09:15 it was looking like Billy Hilson was short of a Team member , with Lyndsey being 'Upgraded' and Bob Holly standing by. Then  yet another bollocking came through from Pro Shop as he had already placed Mark and Stewart  with Billy, who of course went on to win. Stewart is  Landlord of George at Donyatt .

Amazingly the Balcony is taking shape fast and will be completed by weekend.

Hot Favourites by a Mile were Danny's team, but getting only 3 shots leaves little margin for error.

Getting lots more shots but unfortunately using them rather too early were the early birds.

Little did we know that Martin, Clive & Phil, the first out had already carded a 58.
