Thursday Update
What a busy week for our leaders, playing Tuesday, Wednesday, Today at Sidmouth and back up tomorrow for Roll Up.

A few were off to a sad Funeral of that popular local entertainer Neil Graham who did a few turns up at the Club, but been down at Cricket St Thomas Hotel for years.

Very colourful affair with even the Vicar, Georgina Vye wearing a pink feather stole.

Mick & Marie were there, along with Bim and Tess.

More sad news from Rob Heard down at Axe Cliff reporting the passing of one of their Seniors, Jack Bannister, aged just 68. Unfortunately the funeral is same day as Match so the August 1st Fixture has been postponed to September.

Managed to get a picture as you would expect from someone who Liam has now named 'Pearce the Gossip' after the mention of the water shortage.

His side of the story has been printed under original comments...as we always want to be fair and unbiased.

Also up there today was Bob Irons, looking about 3 stone lighter and hitting a few balls, closely followed by Sir Cliff and Lady Shirley Medcraff..but heading for more leisurely pursuits in the bar.

..and the final few blocks being laid on the Patio.

I was thinking about that Axe-Cliff fixture, why don't we have a Day where 12 play 12 in Matchplay with a dinner afterwards - could be captain versus Vice, Ex-Captains versus Rest, whatever combination you can dream up.

Roger's Update.

On a much cooler day, although still rather humid we took on the might of Sidmouth.

Everybody enjoyed their respective matches however most games were topsy-turvy unfortunately with the results going to the home team.

My match was 4 down at the turn then with 3 holes to play we clawed back to all square unfortunately with shots against us on the last three holes we hung on only to go down on the last hole.

Poor team two managed to get their dog licence (or was it the cost of a marriage licence  as it was in olden days) however Bill Hilson was suffering from the dreaded sh - - ks. They also met their match from a 20 handicapper who had only dropped 1 shot in the first 6 holes.!!!!!!!!!

Our saving grace from a whitewash was the dreaded pairing of Richard Forster playing with Bryan' the Blue Mac'  FROST.

RESULT: lost 5 -1 added to our home defeat earlier in the year the  another 8 1/2  to 3 1/2.

Regards
Roger
