Monday 18th July - Ladies Day

Seniors & Ladies swapped days this week to allow the Ladies to run the prestigious South West Rally where Clubs from all over the region send Teams of 6..or 12..or even 18...to compete in the 2 from 3 Stableford, where 2 Teams of 3 are added.
We saw teams from Axe Cliff, Orchard Leigh, The Dorset,  Long Sutton, Fosseway etc as they just kept coming from 08:30 to 14:00 with immaculately dressed Dave acting as Starter and Bim & Nobby on duty in their buggies.
We assisted as Ball Spotters on 7th, then 8th, 9..10th etc but they were so well organised we hardly had to do anything. Hannah had an amazing system where she marked each ball with a 1,2,3 flag as they came over the brow on the 10th. Liz Stevens was much more relaxed on the 7th with her Deck Chair and only got involved if they were in trouble..but so many just drove past the crater that there was little to do... Our 30 Mins in long grass of 9th produced quite a few balls..but none from the competitors who relentlessly rolled onto the Green.

Halfway House on 10th was awash with beautiful cakes & drinks..where we were called into action to remove several House-Flies that had taken up residence.

It was so hot..and rising fast that most Ladies had the brollies up.

I loved the individuality of their Team outfits....just about everyone being dressed in Pink !

No Home players were allowed to compete ( Them's the Rules)

There was a full retail shop set up in the Foyer and looked popular.

The Restaurant Staff were still recovering from the weekend where Saturday's Party kept them there late into the Night but apparently was hugely successful.

So our next Project is to get a few Seniors to participate in Pro's Day on August 6th. We'll see if we can sponsor a few extras for the Seniors, but BBQ will be running all day. Unfortunately it is a boring old Individual Stableford, but if we get enough we can do fun things like 'Blind Threes' where scores are combined ..open to other ideas and funds are available...providing it gets more Seniors up there playing to support our Pro  & his growing staff of  Aaron & Will.

I'm still recovering from an amazing weekend of TV and probably the greatest head-head battle I've ever seen and of course the birth of a new character...The Beef.

As we left Ray Wilton was arriving to take up duty on the 7th, could the Husband of the Ladies Captain be packaged any better ? - I doubt it, perfection personified and an example to us all.

See you tomorrow..It's so hot even Chris Basterfield might play....
