Dec Roll Up Report
3 Man Texas Scramble
On a day when 45 took part in the Texas Scramble, we were
met with not only misty conditions, but confusion as to whether we were playing
on main or temporary greens, the Club web site informed us that 18 holes all on
main greens, however as we ventured round the course the 1st,2nd,3rd,6th,10th and 15th greens were on temps, very confusing in the misty conditions .
At least it is not only the Seniors that sometimes cannot get their act
together, it has rubbed onto the green staff
also.
Having said that, we all
managed to get round safely with some surprisingly low scores and seven 2’s. On our return to the clubhouse, we
learned that Liam has been promoted Director of Golf, ( see the Email from the
Owners ) plus we will be getting regular updates as to what is happening both
on and off the course.

It's amazing, that if we ignore the handicaps and just ranked on Gross scores the results would have been nearly identical with Scores of 63, 64, 67, 67, 70 etc..

Message from Ladies' Captain 2015-2016
Tomorrow is the AGM of our section, when I retire as Ladies’
Captain after two years. I should like to take this opportunity to thank
you all for your support throughout this time, both on and off the course, and
particularly for contributing to my charity for this year, via competition
entries, raffles and the collecting boxes.
A total of over £860 has
been raised for Parkinson’s UK, which is a brilliant result.
I wish you all the best for Christmas and the coming year.
Thank you again.

Just 63 shots to complete a round of golf , Des was so pleased he bought Ronnie a cup of Tea,
Just 1 shot behind with a Gross 64 - the Team that caused the biggest OOOOOH as it was announced...
But enough of Bob's boring win....
Bim handed me a couple of amazing pictures from back in 1976.
..which led to some rather strange connections.
Picture the scene, Bim & Helen Morfitt
were Landlords of the Lord Nelson Pub in Ilminster.
Shown here after a typical Saturday..
..and who was his biggest customer..
Sir Nobby Hodder of course, pictured here as a handsome young 25 Year Old.

The Girls on the left later went to Oxford,
crossed to Platform 5 and took the 09:17 to Pompey and became Wrens.
Nobby refused, coyly, to identify the others, but remember he was still single at the time.
Then after a short but very interesting marriage, he returned to the pub a new Man,
Nobby left again to build the Hindhead Tunnell and Bim went to work as Milkman at the Cricket St Thomas Dairy. Just yards away a young Potter named Frank Martin was running classes . Three cages along was a man called Reiner Winkler who was in charge of the caged birds.
Frank was on TV and was being interviewed about his recent Lottery Win by a reporter along with Bim & Reiner in the same syndicate.
When asked by the reporter what they were going to do with their money, Bim replied that it was none of his F***ng Business. Reiner thought that he might go to Uni on a basic numeracy course, whereas Frank said he was simply going to keep on doing Craft Shows until the money ran out.
