Captain's Party Night
50 Rolled Up for Canadian Greensomes
4th November 2016

Rain was falling as draws were made, but this time Teams were seeded so similar handicaps were conjoined to obviate some of the distortions we've had in the past, where a very low handicapper is drawn with a 28-man and gets about 14 shots. You can see that no player got more shots as a team than he would as an individual.

Not sure how it affected the results, but my group felt it was more pleasant playing in a foursomes of similar handicaps.


Best hole of any team was the Eagle 2 on the 11th by Walgrove & Hughes.  Gordon had a brilliant drive right down the middle, but that was in his buggy. Meanwhile David popped his 2nd into the hole and was walking on whilst Gordon was still cleaning his putter from the 10th.

Win was there for the taking by most of the top teams,  Frankie & Chris had just a single point on 7 holes;  George & Phil let it slip on 10th where their 6 for 1 let the winners creep past them by a single shot.

Well fancied team of Denning & Gingell showed their class with a 3,3,3,2,3,3, first 6 holes, then scored a blank on the 8th - but just held on to take the win and get the comfy seats in the Sports Bar.


Special thanks to farmer Bob for all those cards, so many of them to go through and a few to calculate - with even a couple of Medal formatted ones thrown in. No cards for last 2 teams who walked in after having enough of the rather persistent rain.
