Stableford Qualifier – 14th October 2016
Today’s competition was abandoned. On the advice of players leaving the fourth green who advised that visibility on 2nd, 3rd and 4th holes was limited and potentially dangerous, the decision was made to halt the competition. The klaxon was sounded from the club house and the course marshal drove to the other side of the course to sound the klaxon again and personally advise as many as possible.
It is clear that most people did not hear the klaxon even though they were no further from the club house than the fourth tee. I shall be writing to Liam Clark suggesting that there should be a procedure when conditions are poor covering abandonment of the competition, both prior to the start and during the competition, the course marshal’s responsibilities and the position regarding players insurance when the klaxon has been sounded.
All entry monies today will be returned either to your pro shop or bar account or in cash in accordance with your standing instructions. Five members have already been repaid as they left the club.
