CYDER CUP – Round 1
3rd October 2016
Today was day 1 of the 2016
Cyder Cup and we played a variation of Greensomes, which we shall call
Greenpoints. The Vice Captain made the decision, with the best of intentions,
that the scoring should be Stableford points. This was to ensure that all
matches would not be prematurely completed as it so often the case in
Matchplay.

Today’s scoring method was
not universally liked. Therefore, in round 2 on Wednesday, we shall play Four
Ball Better Ball (Matchplay). In each group, you take 90% of the difference
between the lowest handicap (of the four) and your handicap and that is how
many shots you are allowed.
Please check the start list
and note your start time and pairing. Both may have changed as some players
have dropped out and others have joined, and I have attempted to group a team
with a low and a high handicapper against a team with similar handicaps.
Four members played in the
October Rolling Stableford, with Frank Martin setting the marker for all to
beat :
Frank Martin 37 points
Alan Davis 30
Robin Flower 28
Bim Morfitt 25
Please note that there are
now 92 names on the list for the Annual Dinner. Any further names added will be
on the reserve list.
Ted's Night on 26th October ( Fish & Chips / Curry ) is up to 30 already but plenty of time to join us for a nice casual night.

From Ray Gudge :- I am clearing out my books and came across History of Golf
by Michael Williams, would you like to ask via the blog if anyone would
like it please, otherwise going in charity bag...or the next captain's raffle....
