Friday 30th September

3 Ball Texas Scramble

Thirty eight members turned up to the roll-up to play a 3 Ball Texas Scramble and a team went to Teign Valley in the inter-club match.

The first two out of the draw had to choose to play either a rolling stableford or a 2 man Texas Scramble.  They chose the latter.

There were 25 birdies scored but to no avail because only 2s are paid on a Texas Scramble, and there was none.  £19.00 is rolled over to the next scramble

Thanks to Farmer Bob for organising the draw and checking the cards.

It was said that a certain person (with 3 names) teed off on 18 and put his ball under the beech tree on the left but still finished with a 4.

All refunds from the cancelled Qualifier have been completed.

Next week is Cyder Cup week and the draw is on the blog.

A friend of mine has two tickets for the 2016 Ryder Cup. They are box seats plus airfares and hotel accommodation. He didn't realise when he bought them that this is the same day as his wedding . If you're interested and want to go instead of him, it's at St Johns Church,Worcester at 2.15pm. Her name is Susan. She will be the one in the white dress.

Match Report Teign Valley vs CST Seniors

Six pairs of the finest CST Seniors travelled to Teign Valley today 30th September for our return match of the season.

T V turned on some beautiful weather, however the good weather meant that course maintainance had been brought forward to take advantage of the weather conditions also meant that we played the majority of greens on spiked and sanded condition with another four greens that still remained to be spiked. Those non spiked greens were running at 11.5 on the stint meter, rather faster than the worked on greens. Two of CST players excelled themselves, Richard Hall having an eagle on the 10th, and The Pope having a Birdie on the 2nd ( which he told me no less than three times during the course of the round) not a bad feat as he was playing behind me and almost at some stages losing two holes. Nothing changes does it Stuart!!!

Len Thomas overcame his 6 and 5 defeat at CST as he managed to recruit Geoff Garrett playing off 8 H/C and between them beat Myself and George Wallace 5and4. Incidentally Geoff went round in a gross 74, on those worked on greens indeed !!!!!

Results as follows:

Roger Stone and George Wallace lost 5and 4

Alan Chance and StuartPope Halved

Barrie Heath and Lyndsey Gage Won 1 UP

Paul England and Barry Singleton Lost 6 AND 5

Keith Potter and John Pearce Lost 3 and 2

Richard Hall and Nobby (the hair) Hodder Won 3 and 6

Teign Valley 3 ½ CST 2 ½

Overall for the season  6 – 6  A fair result.

George Wallace returned home with a bottle of wine   nearest the pin on the 11th.
