Bowmaker 19th September 2016
1 to count, holes 1-6; 2 to count holes 7-12; 3 to count holes 13-18

Today we welcomed John Evans to his first Rollup as a member of the Seniors. John has played this course many times so no undue allowances should be made. He was carefully teamed up with Bob Barrow, so that there was no chance of his card being disqualified and John Wallis, who played as though he had just landed from cloud nine.

Forty eight members competed in a Bowmaker match today and a further two were in the monthly Rolling Stableford. In the main competition, the first two teams were well clear of the competition scoring 12 or more shots under par. Two players in particular, John Wallis and Terry Hackling will be looked at very closely by the Handicap Secretary.

I had the pleasure of playing with the Treasurer and Bill Hilson, fresh from his resounding victory against Teign Valley, where he was also on the top table (don’t get used to this). Both Bill and Keith played some fancy trick shots, not only hitting trees but ending up on the fairway a lot further forward than  seemed possible.

There were 21 birdies each paying £1.05 per team.

Andy Beale and Ron Sutherland played the September Rolling Stableford scoring 39 and 35 points respectively.

Out on the course, more amazing scenes as last tree on left  of 18th has now gone, with those on the right following suit...I wonder what the masterplan for the hole is....
Geoff on last of the Firs, with right hand now under attack.
Fibre-Glass roof is now fitted to the Clubhouse conservatory which is looking smart inside as well.

I understand that Ted Bryden is back home, but is not yet up to seeing visitors.

As Ted, our unofficial Social Sec is incapacitated, how about another Curry Night / Fish & Chips - we have so many new members it would be nice to book something and have a meet & greet with the wives etc...anyone fancy organising something ?

Dickie Hall was up selling tickets for his September Draw, but mentioned he has tickets for Jethro in Yeovil on October 5th - they are £20 each and you are guaranteed a f****g B***as  b*** night as Jethro lets lose with the language..not for the faint hearted but give him a call on 01460 62948 if you are brave enough.
