2 from 3 SI Yellow Ball – 9th September 2016
For a wet and windy day, the
turn out was good. Thirty members played in the Rollup, twelve more in the
match against Vivary
and several more
played at Tiverton in their Open. Not sure if they managed to get on the course
at Tiverton as the Tour of Britain cycle race went past the club entrance with
obvious consequences.
Hi
Both
Due
to the Tour of Britain cycle race Barrie and I left home at 0800 as did Stuart
and Alan leaving Donyat at a similar time. Both cars took differing routes
to avoid road closures however we pre-empted the problem as I went onto the
tour website and found out that the Tour didn't roll out from Sidmouth until
1130 by which time both CST pairings had eaten a bacon butty and drunk our
coffee and Teed off. The panic of the tour road closures was averted.
Stuart
and Alan amassed 37 points whilst Barrie and I romped in with a massive
36pts.Another £1 won by Stuart and Alan.
Barrie
and I were paired up with two Dereck's from Teign Valley so we managed to get
some inside info for our match next Friday.
Playing
off 18 and 22 h/c before the 90percent reduction they scraped a meagre 42
points .BANDITS. Let's hope the remainder of the Teign Valley team are not all
wearing masks.
As
a matter of interest Tiverton open today was £16pp and not even a cup of coffee
was offered prior to starting play. Perhaps they can learn from CST if they
enter a team in future.
Regards
Roger
Four teams in the rollup gave
up after 9 or 10 holes either because the weather got too much for them or they
lost the yellow ball. In any case, it’s a long way from home once you get to
that point of the course. This is of course the first time we have applied the new rule about no recovering yellow ball from OOB ( Sorry Rod)
The winning team of Dowell,
Basterfield and Dean were clearly in imperious form scoring 121 points(+5).
Geoff Dean and Danny Dowell scored on 13 holes each but Chris Basterfield added
the cream by scoring 3 of their 4 birdies, the only birdies scored today. It
was very tight behind them with only one point separating the 2nd
and 3rd places.
The 4 birdies were each worth
£3.75.
