Wednesday August 17th - 3 Ball Hassle

. Dave Passmore Charity Day

Today’s event for Dave’s Cancer Charity was a Three Ball Hassle, off a 1/6th combined Club Handicap. Initially Two spots were to be paid out however after discussion it was thought that as a gesture, all entry monies paid in would be given to charity. (there would have been 3 Two’s)

Prizes for the first three positions had been kindly donated by Dave’s close golfing Buddies.
  • 1st prize: A bottle of wine to each player, donated by T. Singleton
  • 2nd prize: A bottle of Cider to each player, donated by S. Pope
  • 3rd prize: A Cucumber to each player, fresh from Alan Chance’s garden.

Thank you guys for your kind donations.
Right from the start there was trouble as a certain unnamed person was booked for terrible parking. Thanks to the 43 people that reported it and suggested I take a picture. As much as possible has been done to protect his identity

It was no less chaotic on the first tee as the pre-swing warm up exercises took place.

53 Senior members played plus a guest of Ian Rowland namely Ray Wilson and yet another new Senior Chris Hyam.

Conditions were again extremely difficult with the hard ground conditions, however the scores were really good for most teams.

Another new Member joined us Chris Hyam (28).
Seen here with one of our lowest Handicappers and really fine player....
...Pete Spencer-Farr.

All Money today was to support Dave Passmore's Charity and the extremely unusual prizes  were much sought after by the competitors..except by Bryan Frost who obviously doesn't like Cucumber.

Mike King blames his poor form after returning to Dave Walgrove's home twice to collect battery, then shoes. 30 minutes of nagging ensued (he's trying to cut down) until he was seen ignominiously creeping into the Pro Shop having found he'd forgotten his own battery !!!
