3 Ball Stableford..the easy one...
and a beautiful Sunny Day.

Another Passing..as James announced the Death of David Smith who was better known amongst the Club Members than the Seniors.
He did play with us for a few Years around 2019. Friend of Mike Burt and Co,
Had the cheek to win the Seniors Championship (Nett) once with a 68.

Funeral Thurs 6th Feb at Yeovil 13:00 then afterwards at Cotley Inn.,

What a finish by Barry, Mike & John.
After 6 Holes they were 1 behind pack, then after 12 holes they had slipped back further, with a paltry 19 Points against a PAR score of 24 !
But then came the dash for the finish , all 3 to count where many Teams faltered...now 8 behind...    But 39 Points on last 6 holes - including John Weir bagging points of 3,4,3,2,2,3 swept them past Siabi's Starfighters - to take the spoils.

Winter League Final
Final Table

Bean Counter adds: Close at the Top...
If all 7 Rounds Counted - B&H would have Won.
Deleting just 1 Score hands it to K &C.

Great Comp - keeps us ticking over the Winter and thanks to James for all his hard work in between his property Management in London; Air B&B  dealings in Tatworth and his Love Interests in Lyme Regis

Could we just take a moment, to put a shout out to the person or persons who allocated the 7 days to play the Winter League. We have had floods & gales; snow and hails; storms and ails....but ALWAYS we played the Winter League as planned.  This has never happened before - what a Star !

Monday 27th January 2025
Course Closed - boy that was a lot of rain.
For an hour or so at midday Sunday, thunder & lightening and the heavens opened and I reckon we had 4 inches in 57 Minutes...

Wellies were out in Chard Junction and the sheer volume of water flowing over the surface eventually hit the rivers and lifted them several Metres for a short while.

Captains Drive In
Keith hit his drive into the trees on the right. Mike Hone wins the prize for putting his peg closes to where it finished.

When I was 50, my swing modelled McIlroy..
..at 65 I'm nearer Phil....no relation

Yes, it was a sort of Green Colour...
.Mike Hone promised Snow !

I want the names of those who put me
on these Orange Markers...

Monday 20th January 2025

Well done to the earlies who just about made a clean-sweep, despite going out in pretty miserable weather.  It was Drizzling all morning, right up to 09:07 when we went out and the rain stopped. By this time we had already lost a few that voted with their feet. Feet was all that were available to Farmer Bob and Jolly Roger - as Buggies were off. A good decision really as surface was very wet &  sticky. Eggs called it a day after 5 holes as Greens were getting waterlogged.

Such is the drainage at CST that we never had any issues with standing water on the greens as it quickly faded.

Captain had some good news about Edmondo. He called him 07:00  saying he was being wheeled into Theatre for a 7-hour double valve replacement.
By mid Afternoon the Hunt-Phone rang again with Buon lavoro!
..as Ed confirmed the Operation was a success.

More good news for Norman Markby - as he was given the seal of approval  from his Consultant  after his battle with Lung Cancer.  He has also made good progress with his Reliant Scimitar and the Engine turned over for the first time.
Apparently the value of this 3-Litre Gas Guzzler has rocket since Dinald Trimp's recent speech.

Continuing on a theme, had the pleasure of playing with Bob the Builder in yesterday's Scramble and he was in perfect health and showed some of his old 'single-figure' form - although to be fair having Terry Rutherford in our Threesome was rather handy at certain shaky times - with his immaculate short game.
