Friday 25th November - Winter League Round II
We all are
saddened to hear of the passing of Keith Harper a long member of the Senior's
Section, our golfing friend and a true Gentleman. Our thoughts go out to Julie
and her family in this difficult time.
Details of
the funeral will be published in due course.
Today was
the second try of the Second round of the Winter League, which was played in
dry but very windy and bitterly cold conditions. A separate report will follow
from Alan Davis.
Two members
played a Rolling Stableford, R.Sutherland 32pts, T.Downey 32pts
R.J.S.25.11.16
Winter League Round 2.
Apart from a
very cold and at times a strong north easterly wind the second round went off
without any hitches. The course played well and the greens were receptive to a
lofted ball, however, it had been shortened, don’t know why and this was
reflected in the scores. Seven scores were in the forties with the best score
of 46, the first three teams separated by one point and there were 15birdies.
The winners
today were:-
1. G Wallace/I Griffiths 46pts 2birdies £13 team
2. I Rowland/B Hollingworth 45 1 £11
3. B Frost/N Hodder 45 £9
4. A Chance/J Evans 43 £7
5. J Wandless/R Flower 42 2 £4
Birdies also
for Withers/Stephens 1, Fisk/Dewar 1, Crisp/Bonney 1, Nick George who played on
his own 1, Branchflower/Hilson 1, Barrow/Martin 1, Arnold/Forster 2 and
Heath/Dobson 2. Birdies are worth 0.65p
each.
The next
round is on Wednesday 7th December. The draw will be posted on the
blog over the weekend and on the notice board on Monday.
